Maura and John are another couple that I didn’t meet in person right away. They have some New England roots and connections, which is what brought them to Maine for their wedding, but they live in California. About a month ago, they were visiting and I was able to venture out to Chebeague Island for our venue walk through. Despite the foggy, chilly day that was upon us, it was a pleasure to meet them and share the afternoon talking about their wedding and getting to know them!
Wedding Date: September 23, 2017
Meet Maura and John
Maura went to school for acting in NYC, but quickly switched to film production after graduating. Now she works in LA as a Director/Producer. She just finished her 2nd feature film.
Her favorite morning beverage: An iced vanilla latte simply because it tastes good. (She’s like me-- no need for the caffeine, but lattes are sometimes too good to pass up!)
John grew up in Maryland with two older brothers. The middle brother is officiating their wedding. John joined the army at an early age and served for 6 years, here and in Korea. He moved to LA after that and now works for a 3D printing company, managing their west coast division.
His favorite morning beverage: Coffee. He can’t function without it!
How they met:
Flag football! “John's best friend was our QB and he brought John to play for a season. We played for 6 months and then went on a camping trip for a teammates birthday where John asked me out for the first time. A week later we were a couple.”
What they like to do:
They love California and the outdoors. They try to go camping and on hiking trips whenever possible, but also love to hang out around the fire pit (at their house or friends) drinking wine and making s’mores. They have a very close group of friends-- there are game nights and board game olympics! Good food matters to these guys too, so they are always trying new restaurants. They're hoping to keep eating at all the different places in Maine (there's so many to try), but a favorite so far is Central Provisions! Watson is there terrier mix whose 13 years old. John got him 12 years ago! They’re happy hanging out with friends, playing football, watching NFL, hiking, and evening going to escape rooms!
What they're looking forward to on their wedding day:
“Having all of our family and friends in one place together.” They know it will be an overwhelming experience in the best sort of way. Also, they both simply feel really excited to marry their best friend.
I can't wait to support these two on their wedding day this fall. It's bound to be a fun, Maine wedding for all their friends and family!
